Why We Rally- Join the 2016 Rally to Improve Birth

A lot of the moms I know like talking about their births. But they don't always like the story. Birth trauma is a real thing that is pretty common in our country. Often times women go into their first birth not knowing the extent to which they need to be their own advocate, not knowing that things can easily get out of their control, not knowing they could be left feeling disappointed and even traumatized by their birth experience, and not knowing that it could greatly affect their later births.

Maternity care in our country is in crisis. We need change and change happens from the bottom up- by informing, supporting and empowering women and families to get in the driver's seat when it comes to childbirth. We advocate for each other as individuals and as a group. WE are the solution.

Improving Birth is a national 501(c)3 advocacy organization made up of moms and the people who care for moms. Their mission is to bring evidence-based care and humanity to childbirth. They create tools that put pressure on the system to improve as well as offering resources to share with their community, family and friends, so that they might prevent unnecessary stress and trauma from happening to another family.

Have you been to an Improving Birth rally before? The rally is a chance for men, women, and children to come stand in support of evidence-based maternity care and the right of women to make their own informed decisions about how to give birth.

This Labor Day we will rally in Tampa Bay. Join us on September 5th, from 10am to 12pm for a rally and maternity fair in downtown Lykes-Gaslight Park.

Join us by becoming a vendor, making signs, volunteering, collecting donations for Improving Birth, or just coming out to enjoy the day! Visit our fundraising page or our facebook page to RSVP. We look forward to seeing you there! Together we can improve birth!

Why do you rally? I rally because my first birth experience was not what I wanted. I rally because my last 2 births were everything I wanted. I had choices and so should everyone.
