La Leche League Meeting

All La Leche League meetings are FREE, open to all women and children, and require no RSVP or registration. LLL is a non-profit, non-sectarian, international organization dedicated to providing accurate breastfeeding information, education and encouragement to ALL families.

What happens at a meeting:
Leaders and other mothers share experiences, give suggestions, and offer support and encouragement. LLL meetings are ideal for learning from and making friends with other mothers. These meetings provide time for mother-to-mother sharing in a friendly and accepting atmosphere. They are attended by expectant, new, and experienced mothers with their babies and children. 

Meetings rotate through four general topics, however every meeting is different and questions of attendees are always given top priority.

Heart of Adoptions Newborn Prep for Adoptive Parents

This one session class is meant solely for prospective adoptive parents and helps to prepare new parents for the care of their newborn during the first few weeks and months. Topics covered include infant bathing and dressing, infant communication through crying, feeding, when to call your child’s pediatrician and many more. The class will also focus on adoption specific issues such as attachment, induced lactation, post-placement supervision and post adoption depression.

The class is facilitated by a Registered Nurse, with many years of NICU experience, as well as an Adoption Coordinator. You can also expect to hear testimonials from past adoptive parents and have some hands on time to practice swaddling technique, diaper changing and car seat safety. Join us for a fun, informative class and meet other folks who are on the same journey.

Foundations for Growth Adoption Support Group

The support group is for prospective or waiting adoptive parents as well as adoptive parents who are seeking post-adoption support. 

The group will offer time for individuals and couples to share openly about their experiences, concerns, and opinions
while gaining support from others with similar experiences. The group will also provide the opportunity to learn new strategies to
assist in the social, emotional, and behavioral health and development of your family. 

The group will only be for adults and will be led by an adoption-competent licensed clinical social worker. 

Support Group Fee:

Yin Yoga with Blair

Adult and mature teens only. All flexibility and fitness levels are welcome! There are fewer poses (asanas) per class- each pose is held anywhere from 1-15 minutes (with props as needed). These poses target the deep connective (“Yin”) tissues in the body, such as ligaments, bones, fascia and joints of the body that are typically not accessed as much during a more active (“Yang”) practice. This class is a wonderful compliment if you already have an established muscular (“Yang”) practice. It is also great if you like a quiet class where you can slow down and surrender. The class is healing, relaxing and takes into account the whole person- body, mind and spirit. Prior yoga and/or meditation experience is not required.

Please bring a yoga Mat- all other props will be provided. :) 

Also- this class will be held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month (FB Events will always be created though!). 

$10 per class

Mended Hearts Art Project

As part of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month in October, we're having an art project to help bring healing and promote community for those who have lost a child. 

We are creating, decorating and re-attaching two halves of a broken heart to make mended hearts. Craft supplies will be provided but please feel free to bring your own art supplies as well.

Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Family Walk

All are welcome to participate in this special day of love and remembrance. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is a day for all grieving parents to be surrounded by love and support from their friends, family, and community. It is a day to not only reflect on the loss but to also embrace love and healing.

Community Roots Collective invites your family and friends to spend this special day with us in remembrance of these angels.

We will gather for a 1 mile family walk along the riverwalk. We will have a community art project for remembering our babies. We will finish the night by releasing lanterns into the night sky.

Your attendance helps us secure venue, permits, materials, and all proceeds will go to benefit our local AMEND chapter (Aiding Mothers Enduring Neonatal Death).

Halloween Party!

It's our annual Halloween Party!

Come join us for a ghoulishly good time as we enjoy Halloween festivities like games and in-house trick-or-treating. This will be a 'Healthy Halloween' so we will have lots of fun non-traditional treats for you and your littles.

At 10:30am explore around the collective and play spooktacular games, visit our different shops for some yummy Halloween goodies, or just kick back in your costumes and watch some Halloweenie flicks;)

There will be a costume contest for the following categories held promptly at 12:00pm:

+Best belly-incorporating costume for pregnant mamas
+Best babywearing costume
+Best children's costume (1-12yrs old)
+Best adult costume
+Best family themed costumes
Awards will be given to whomever gets the loudest cheers!

We will then conclude this spook-tastic event with a Monster Bash Dance Party! There will be music videos to jam out to!

Our Halloween Party will then come to an end at 1:30pm ♥

Join Ashlee Dean Wells of 4th Trimester Bodies Project for a Community Gathering and Photoshoot at Community Roots Collective in Tampa, FL on Sunday August 06, 2017. 

Each ticket includes general admission to the 4TBP community gathering and photoshoot for 1 adult + children. All adult humans and children of all ages welcomed. 

Our gathering/shoot space are fully accessible.

WHAT IS THE BIG LATCH ON? 

The Big Latch On starts at exactly 10:30 am. Groups of breastfeeding women coming together at registered locations around the world to all latch on their child at a set time. All the breastfeeding women and children are latched on for one minute at the set time and are counted by the witnesses. 

The numbers are added up and we see if we can beat previous Big Latch On records! The Big Latch On supports communities with identifying and growing opportunities to provide ongoing breastfeeding support and promotion.

ANY BREASTFEEDING MOMS COUNT IN THE LATCH, FULL, PARTIAL, EXCLUSIVELY PUMPING, TANDEM! IF YOU CAN LATCH BABY/BABIES OR PUMP FOR THE WHOLE MINUTE YOU WILL COUNT!

Getting Along with Others- Parent Workshop

This 2-hour discussion group will help parents choose and tailor strategies to encourage their child to get along well with others. Strategies will focus on encouraging skills like sharing toys, gentle hands and turn-taking. Parents will walk away feeling confident and ready to use these new skills to enjoy play dates, park trips and sibling play time. No more fights- just fun!

This group is for parent(s)/caregiver(s):
➢ Of children aged 18 months-12 years
➢ Looking for support in parenting
➢ Willing to try new approaches to parenting
