Our (extended) family: Dr. Jeff Langmaid - Tampa Bay Chiropractor
Next up in our interactive resource list is a great chiropractor and just super nice dude, Dr, Jeff Langmaid! I had the pleasure of walking with Dr. Landmaid and his beautiful wife through the pregnancy and birth of their first daughter. It is so great to care for colleagues who really understand holistic wellness! We recommend that all of our mamas see a chiropractor who is certified in the Webster technique throughout their pregnancies, then also have their babies seen soon after birth and throughout their lives for optimum wellness. Over the years, I have seen chiropractic care really change the course of pregnancies and births by allowing babies to get into the optimal position for delivery as well as helping newborns transition from womb to world.
"I am a chiropractor with Florida Orthopaedic Institute. If you are seeking pain relief, looking to stay active, or interested in wellness care, then my office may be the right choice for you. So whether you are an expecting mother looking for the Webster Technique or sciatic relief, a child, or a dad with back pain; I can help. I have treated infants who are less than 1 day old up to patients nearing 95 years old. I always appreciate the trust that my patients place with me; whether helping a patient through pain and discomfort, facilitating greater health in children, or the satisfaction of treating an expecting mother who is able to deliver a baby according to her birth plan. I invite everyone to join our free online health community where we post daily inspirational and motivational health tips. Additionally, you can keep up with my blog , through RSS, ITunes, or at many of the local PATCH sites which syndicate it!
I practice with Florida Orthopaedic Institute, one of the largest orthopedic groups in the area. This creates many benefits in terms of insurance acceptance, scheduling, etc. However, I primarily practice out of a more intimate satellite clinic in Brandon, FL. I believe this offers my patients the best of both worlds; the advantages of a large practice, yet the personality of a smaller independent practice. Also, I am one of the only chiropractors in the Brandon/Valrico/Fish Hawk area who performs the Webster Technique.
My great-grandfather was one of the first few hundred chiropractors at the turn of the century when the profession began. When I found this out in high school is began my interest in chiropractic care. In relation to pregnancy care, I was a founding member of the Rhode Island Birth Network and I am a current member of the Tampa Bay Birth Network. I became involved with expecting mothers when I saw a strong need for natural, conservative musculoskeletal care. While I work with many local doulas, mid-wives, and OB/GYN groups, there are still many women who have practitioners who still may not be familiar with chiropractic care. The Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health has noted an average of 4.5 days to clinically significant pain relief for pregnant patients undergoing chiropractic care. The Chiropractic Journal of Australia concluded that “pregnant patients present for chiropractic care for musculoskeletal complaints in addition to wellness care with high-perceived effectiveness”. Additionally they state “the effectiveness of chiropractic…and its overall popularity….make chiropractic an attractive option for the pregnant woman.”
I believe in creating an empowered and healthy community. My passion is supporting a natural, active, and pain-free lifestyle. Everything I do is driven by these principles. In regards to expecting mother, I believe you should have the best pregnancy possible, plain and simple."
