Choosing a care provider during your pregnancy is a big decision! Midwifery care is considered standard in every other developed country in the world. We have worked hard at Barefoot Birth to replicate the European model of midwifery care while still preserving the beautiful art of traditional American midwifery care.

Midwifery care is not just for those planning to deliver their babies at home. We care for families regardless of their plans for home or hospital birth. Maybe you’d like an epidural for labor or maybe your home is located too far away from a hospital with obstetrical services to be considered a safe option for home delivery. Maybe you just feel most comfortable in a hospital setting? Any and all of those options are why we offer care for families no matter their birth plans.

For our hospital delivery clients we have a great working relationship with Bayfront Spring Hill as well as Tampa General to facilitate deliveries with the on-call providers, usually the staff Nurse Midwives. We encourage our clients to plan deliveries at either of those locations however where you’d like to deliver is 100% your choice and we can facilitate your labor management anywhere. We offer labor support or midwife-as-doula support services for these clients as well if you feel you’d benefit from the continuity of support when your birthing day arrives.

Once you deliver we continue to see you during your postpartum period with much more comprehensive care than traditional ob practices. Lactation support, a standard 2-3 postpartum visits, and ongoing support circles, classes, and workshops are available to our families via our midwives and The Community Roots Collective. We also can connect you with local resources for new families closer to your home.

Our prenatal visits in our offices in Tampa or Brooksville are $50/ per visit, homevisits begin at $150/ per visit, or we offer a concierge option that includes all routine labwork for those looking for something more comprehensive that begins at $3000/ complete care. We also accept Florida Medicaid which covers in office visits at no extra out of pocket expense.
